Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN) is a network of community-led, low-income savings groups working on securing affordable land, shelter and infrastructure services. Namibia Housing Action Group (NHAG) is an NGO that was established to support the work of the SDFN.

The Twin Hills Trust supports the following NHAG / SDFN project:

Upgrading of bulk sewerage line in Usab informal settlement

To allow dwellings in the informal settlement of Usab (Karibib) to install flush toilets, bulk sewer lines needed to be upgraded and pipes installed along newly demarcated streets. The Usab community, supported by the Namibia Housing Action Group (NHAG) and the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN), are working in partnership with the Karibib Town Council to achieve this. The upgraded and new sewer lines will eventually benefit over 700 households, consisting of almost 3,000 people.

Twin Hills co-funded two phases of the project, contributing to the breaking of surface rock, excavation of trenches, laying of bulk sewer pipes and a stipend for local community members working on the project.
